DOOR FAN TEST

Door Fan Test FM-200, Novec 1230, IG-01, IG-55, IG100 and IG541 is a test that must be compulsorily applied and documented in order for the extinguishing to take place properly in the spaces where gas extinguishing systems are applied.

The success of gas extinguishing systems depends on reaching the required extinguishing concentration in the space where they are applied. This means that the sealing of the volume protected by the gas extinguishing system must be capable of maintaining at least the required gas concentration in the volume for the specified time. When this criteria is not met, the system is unlikely to be successful. For this purpose, we need to confirm that the Door-Fan Test provides the extinguishing concentration of the protected space for the time required by the standard (it is sealed). If the required extinguishing concentration cannot be provided for a sufficient period of time in the area you protect with the above-mentioned chemicals or Inert gases without Door-Fan Test, extinguishing will not occur. In this case, architectural improvements should be made in the area. The tests are repeated and the constructional improvements and tests are repeated until the impermeability is ensured for the specified period. If there are openings detected, they should be closed with firestop materials and the test should be repeated.

Door Fan Test is a mandatory test to test the extinguishing gas to stay inside for 10 minutes depending on the design standard of the system. Regardless of the type of gas penetrating inside, door fan tests must be applied to each room. According to the conditions specified by the relevant standards, at least 85% of the gas penetrating the environment for the door fan test must be present in the environment after 10 minutes. Otherwise, the room will not pass the test.

As a result of the trainings held in accredited organizations for the door fan test, a certificate of success is obtained and only the relevant personnel are obliged to perform the procedures. It should be taken into consideration that most of the gaseous chemicals used to extinguish the fire are heavier than air. Since the extinguishing gas that starts to discharge will rise from the ground and start to fill the space, it will start to leak very quickly from low-level leakage areas. During the test, openings such as dampers etc. that may cause gas leakage should be closed by automation.

The result of the test to be performed is delivered to the administration according to the result report to be received from the relevant software.
