Smart Technologies in Fire Fighting

FOAM EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMLERS

We are experiencing the speed of development in science and technology in the fields of production and manufacturing. Especially in the chemical industry, almost every day a new compound continues to be a part of our lives with its accompanying risks. This situation reveals the necessity of producing special solutions for flammable-combustible chemicals that are difficult to extinguish with water or cannot be extinguished with water.

These types of flammable-combustible liquids, which cannot be extinguished with water, pose a great risk of fire. We can eliminate the existing risks or minimize their effects with properly designed foam extinguishing systems at points where such liquids are kept, used in production or stored. For the correct analysis and solution of the hazard, the road map must first be determined correctly. For this purpose;

  • Determination of Design Standard
  • Determination of the Class of Flammable and Combustible Liquids Stored or Used
  • Selection of Proper Extinguishing System
  • Determination of Design Density
  • Determination of the Operation Area
  • Identification of Application Heads
  • Determination of Minimum Working Pressure for Application Heads
  • Determination of Application Time
  • Determination of Foam Concentrate
  • Determination of Foam Concentrate Mixing Ratio
  • Determination of Proportioning System
  • Determination of Foam Concentrate Storage Method

Using the basic and mandatory parameters similar to the above correctly is a prerequisite for the system to perform effectively and with the required performance. Foam Extinguishing Systems can be used effectively in Class B flammable and combustible liquid fires as well as Class A solid material fires. Sometimes we use foam extinguishing systems effectively to suppress flammable and combustible vapors when there is no fire or combustion.

Foam Extinguishing Systems are divided into three according to their expansion rates.

  • Low Expansion Foam Extinguishing Systems; can be applied to production areas, storage areas and special risks containing flammable and combustible liquids such as storage tanks, tanker filling areas, foam sprinkler systems.
  • Medium Expansion Foam Extinguishing Systems; are used for Protection of Dike Areas, Under Tanker in Tanker Filling Areas or in various industrial areas to close the ground and suppress flammable vapors when necessary.
  • High Expansion Foam Systems; can be used where it is desired to fill the area with foam, where fire contact with air is tried to be completely prevented and especially where vapor suppression is needed.

Our authorized Design Engineers work to select and implement the appropriate system or systems, taking into account the risks your industrial sites pose. Sometimes you may have areas that need to be protected with all three system types in different areas in the same facility. AKSAY has been recognized with Foam Extinguishing Systems since the day it was founded and is one of the leading companies in the sector working on the protection of the petrochemical industry, especially in the petrochemical industry where fast flammables are used. AKSAY has designed hundreds of Foam Extinguishing Systems since its establishment and continues to carry out maintenance services of the systems.

AKSAY is as close as a phone call to you to provide fast and reliable service with its strong engineering experience and alternative system options. AKSAY protects your investments safely.

In addition to the classical foam concentrates such as AFFF, AFFF AR, P, FP, FP AR, FFFP, FFFP AR, which are frequently used today, new generation fluorine-free “Re-Healing” or “Flourine Free” “Environmentally Friendly” concentrates appear. Expansion rates vary depending on the equipment used. Often 1×3, 3×3 or 3×6 mixing ratios for 1%, 3%, 6% or Alcohol derived foams are in question.

Today, in addition to classical foam concentrates, newly developed and environmentally friendly foam concentrates are preferred and used intensively by investors in production and storage facilities. With the increase in environmental awareness, the use of “New Generation Environmentally Friendly Foam Concentrates” is spreading rapidly. The use of “New Generation Environmentally Friendly Foam Concentrates” will increase especially in chemical plants located on water basins.

Foam Fire Protection Systems are often designed in accordance with NFPA 11, NFPA 16, NFPA 30 or EN 13565 standards.

AKSAY Yangın, in cooperation with SOLBERG, provides design, engineering calculations, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and contracted maintenance services of foam extinguishing systems with its trained engineers and technicians.
