CAFS (Compressed Air Systems) Foam Concentrates

It is a foam concentrate specially designed for use with Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) for fighting class A fires. It is produced to be used by mixing with water at a ratio of 0.1 – 1% as standard. When added to water at low concentrations, it reduces surface and inter-surface tensions and increases penetration and spreading ability. CAFS or Class A foams reduce water consumption, provide faster extinguishing and make re-ignition difficult. Some manufacturers produce foam with CAFS equipment by using class A concentrate with water at a ratio of 0.3%, combining some important properties such as excellent adhesion, slow drainage, long life, excellent wetting ability. In this state, effective and powerful extinguishing is achieved. The foam concentrate is odorless and easily biodegradable.

Although CAFS is primarily used for Class A fires, it can be used to control small hydrocarbon fires (Class B) to 0.5% (varies by manufacturer) if applied carefully and deliberately. Class A foam concentrates can be used with fresh or sea water.

*** CAFS (Compressed Air Systems) is a fire extinguishing system obtained by mixing water, foam concentrate and compressed air in certain proportions. It provides effective fire extinguishing with low amounts of water and foam.
